Flutist and Teaching Artist
An innovative flutist known for her beautiful, singing tone and expressive playing, Julie McGough enjoys a career as a much sought after soloist, orchestral musician and teacher. She has performed in halls throughout the United States and Europe, including Carnegie Hall, Heinz Hall, Benedum, Byham, Kimmel Center, Orchestra Hall, the Concertgebouw and The Royal Albert Hall in England.

NYC CARNEGIE HALL DEBUT RECITAL
In 2004 Mrs. McGough was presented in her Carnegie Hall debut recital in New York City by Artists International, Inc.
This full length solo recital "Myths and Legends", included the world premiere of “9 Walks Down 7th Avenue” written for Mrs. McGough by Daniel Dorff.
She has also performed at National Flute Association Conventions in Orlando, FL, Nashville, TN and Pittsburgh, PA.
Mrs. McGough, owner and teacher at Flute Studio Pittsburgh is a teaching artist in Pittsburgh, PA. She is proud to be part of a community of professional artists who teach and integrate their art form, perspectives, and skills into a wide range of settings. As an active professional musician she strives to share her extensive knowledge of the flute with students of all ages.
Mrs. McGough is the former Adjunct Professor of Flute at Washington & Jefferson College and Carnegie Mellon University Summer Pre-College program.
Her students have achieved top scores at PMEA honors band, district band and orchestra, regional band and orchestra, as well as placing at the top of the state level band and orchestra.
Students wishing to audition for college receive excellent training with Mrs. McGough, with acceptance at many of the top colleges for music performance and education.
She has taught masterclasses & lectures for school band programs, orchestral outreach programs and at Carnegie Mellon University and Youngstown State University. Her articles have been published by the Pittsburgh Flute Club

Mrs. McGough is currently the Executive Director of The Consummate Flutist with Jeanne Baxtresser and Alberto Almarza at Carnegie Mellon University. Established in 2013, these classes are among the top masterclasses for advanced high school and college flutists in the world. In addition to her professional performing engagements, Julie loves to share the gift of music with the community. In addition to her professional engagements she enjoys performing at:

Julie is a mom and wife and enjoys her time with her husband and three girls, who are all young musicians!
Her husband, Stephen, is a musician who teaches music in a public school and is a member of the River City Brass. He is also a volunteer fire fighter.
She is passionate about the environment, natural & organic food and yoga. In her free time she loves gourmet cooking, advocating for safer beauty products (Beautycounter!), reading and spending time with her neighbors and friends.
